“K”Line is recognized worldwide as an innovator in the transport of automobiles via car carriers. As such, “K”Line has long provided safe and prompt marine transport services in this filed since beginning the operation of its car carrier fleet. In order to successfully meet transport needs that have become increasingly diversified in recent years, with the spread of automobile production facilities to various parts of the world, “K”Line will always be ready to satisfy customer vishes through its top notch services in the transport of automobiles.

History of “K”Line’s Car Carrier Division
In 1968, “K”Line completed No.1 Toyota Maru with 1,250 – vehicle capacity, a dedicated multi-deck carrier of both automobiles and bulk cargoes. Since that time, “K”Line has consistently devoted passion and energy into the marine transport of automobiles as a pioneer in this sector, so as to fully meet the ever-changing needs of the automobile market.
“K”Line completed Japan’s first-ever pure car carrier (PCC), No.10 Toyota Maru, in1970 and went on to commission the 4,200 –vehicle capacity European Highway, then the largest and fastest car carrier in the world, in 1973. Moreover, Nippon Highway, with its 5053 –vehicle capacity, was completed in 1999 to become the world’s first PCC with decks capable of also loading recreational vehicles(RV). This loading system has been adopted for all new car carriers completed since then.

High-Grade Transport and “Damage Prevention” Activities
“K”Line provides customers with high-grade services in both hardware and software aspects, offering state-of-the-art car carriers as well as an expert staff embodying a wealth of know-how and experience, acquired through “K”Line’s global services networks.
These hardware and software will be constantly improved and mobilized for “K”Line’s unremitting efforts to provide safe and reliable marine transport services.
A good example of these activities is the Stowage Planning System (SPS), pioneered by “K”Line to markedly improve the stowage efficiency of automobiles. The vigorous application of this and other advanced system as well as the thorough education of crewmen and cargo-handling personnel has enabled “K”Line to boast the lowest cargo damage ratio in shipping circles. As a result, “K”Line has received frequent commendations as the Carrier of The Year from leading automakers both at home and abroad.
At the same time, “K”Line is striving to prevent pollution of the Earth and protect the global environment by operating all its vessels in conformity with the ISM Code and adopting even tougher standards than the strict international standards for the preservation of the marine environment in the operation of its fleet.

Orient Sea Highway Services Co., Ltd. (China) for Costal Service in China
Automobile sales in China continue to swell rapidly. The vehicles are mostly transported from producing to consuming areas by both overland carrier cars and coastal shipping.
Orient Sea Highway Services Co., Ltd. (OSHS) has deployed car carriers between Tianjin and Guangzhou to take the lead in the expansion of coastal transport. This is a more environmentally friendly transportation method than overland transport, which is of increasing concern to China.
